Livelihoods & Sustainable Agriculture Program
Hope and Care for Development (HCD)
HCD promotes sustainable farming and empowers youth and women with skills to boost income and food security.
HCD’s Livelihoods & Sustainable Agriculture program aims to reduce poverty and improve food security by helping communities build reliable sources of income and resilient farming systems. The program promotes climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices, such as improved seed varieties, soil conservation, and water management techniques.
It supports smallholder farmers—particularly women and youth—by providing training in modern farming methods, access to tools, and knowledge of local markets. HCD also offers vocational skills development in areas like food processing, small-scale agribusiness, and entrepreneurship to help families diversify their income beyond subsistence farming.
By empowering communities to produce more food, manage their resources sustainably, and engage in local markets, the program strengthens household resilience, reduces dependency on aid, and contributes to long-term development and stability.
