World Food Program Visit Strengthens Partnership with HC4D

HC4D welcomed a delegation from the World Food Program (WFP) to Yambio as part of an important field visit aimed at assessing ongoing agricultural activities and strengthening collaboration at the community level. The visit represented a significant opportunity to showcase progress, exchange insights, and reinforce partnerships that support food security and livelihoods in Western Equatoria State.

During the visit, the WFP team toured several farm sites supported by HC4D, where they observed crops such as maize, beans, and vegetables. They engaged directly with farmers to better understand local farming practices, challenges related to water access, tools, and transportation, as well as opportunities for improving productivity. These discussions allowed farmers to openly share their experiences and highlight areas where further support is needed.

The delegation also inspected farming tools, seed storage practices, and inputs used in the field. Particular attention was given to how resources are managed, stored, and distributed. The WFP team emphasized the importance of proper handling and recordkeeping to ensure efficiency, accountability, and long-term sustainability of agricultural interventions.

In addition to the field visits, the WFP team toured HC4D’s office in Yambio, where staff presented an overview of project activities, data collection methods, and reporting processes. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss coordination mechanisms, operational challenges, and future plans. The team expressed appreciation for the organization’s structured approach, motivated staff, and commitment to transparent data management.

At the conclusion of the visit, WFP provided both positive feedback and constructive recommendations. They acknowledged the visible progress made by farmers, the strong engagement of communities, and the effectiveness of HC4D’s local coordination. Suggestions for improvement included expanding access to improved tools, enhancing irrigation solutions, strengthening farmer training on soil health, and exploring digital tools for data collection.

The visit not only validated HC4D’s ongoing efforts but also helped strengthen trust and collaboration between the two organizations. Such partnerships are essential for scaling impact, improving program quality, and ensuring that interventions respond effectively to community needs.

Through continued cooperation with partners like the World Food Program, HC4D remains committed to advancing food security, supporting local farmers, and building resilient communities across Western Equatoria State.
